Owen Carney Honoured

Owen Carney, the long time inspirational leader of the Whistler Weasel Workers was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame on Nov 13, 2004, at a ceremony held at Camp Fortune, near Hull Quebec. One of three people to be inducted in 2004, Owen was selected in recognition for his years of volunteer work in building and managing race courses and for his long-time leadership of the Weasel Workers.

Owen was Chief of Course for the Downhill for the 1988 Calgary Olympics and has been the long-standing Chief of Course for nearly all World Cup and Canadian Championship downhills held at Whistler, over the years. He has also participated in a senior capacity at the Lake Louise Winterstart downhill and led a Weasel Worker contingent to the Salt Lake Olympics.
